Hi Bellas,
Sorry for being MIA! I went out of town for work and a wedding and fell off the face of the planet lol. Meanwhile, I'm continuing coverage on my Bridal Shower and Bachelorette weekend from a few weeks ago. Today i'll focus on my bridal shower dress and shoe details. Check it out!
Interestingly enough, the very first thing I purchased for my wedding was my bridal shower dress. I was outlet shopping and came across this gorgeous outfit that just screamed bridal shower to me. It was one of those unique dresses that are perfect for those extra special occasions. The store was BCBG and unfortunately they didn't have my size.
However I happened to visit my parents in Orlando, went outlet shopping and was able to locate the dress again! The dress was pricey but super discounted so I knew I was getting great quality and a good deal. I'd describe the dress as ballerina style. It's got a silk ivory sweetheart bodice with tons of stitching detail. The bottom is puffy taffeta in different rounded tiers. It reminds me of a mini wedding cake. I love that it's so girly and in a bridal color. I bought this dress in a size 12 and since I love 23 pounds since buying it in Dec 2014, I had to get major alterations. They took the dress in, added bra cups (yay for not having to wear a bra) and did some serious work shortening the length and taffeta tiers. The dress was hitting me below the knee and definitely looked better shorter at a mid-thigh length.
For those wondering, I went to Lace Alterations in Atlanta as a recommendation from my bestie would had her bridal shower dress altered there...they do tons of bridal alteration work. Here's a tip, give yourself at least two weeks or more to get your dress altered to void rush fees and to make sure you have time to get the dress tweaked if necessary. I did find that they made the dress a little tighter and shorter than I wanted but I was in a rush so I didn't have time to change it.
Onto the shoes. I was searching for months to find the perfect bridal shower shoe. I knew I wanted something sparkly with a medium height heel for comfort. I searched high and low and made tons of Amazon returns. It was hard to find a blinged out shoe for a decent price without it looking tacky. I ended lucking out the week before and found this gorgeous shoe on Amazon here for just $40!
It was comfortable because of the mini platform on top and I love the vintage style. The material is a gorgeous shimmering gold fabric with irridescent rhinestones on top. There are also sheer gold mesh details in the front which add a little something special. I got tons of compliments on these shoes. Not only did they go great with my ivory bridal shower dress, but I was also able to rock them with my gold bachelorette dress - details on that coming soon! I will also feature a full body shot of me rocking the outfit and shoes at the end of my bridal shower series!
