Senna Cosmetics Sunrise Eyes Tutorial & Review

Hi Bellas,

Today's tutorial is perfect for spring - it's bronzey and peachy and really makes your skin glow.  I drew inspiration from J Lo's Peachy nude looks.  For the tutorial I used Senna Cosmetics Pastels Envelope.  If you haven't heard of this brand, you're really missing out.  They've been making a huge buzz on the Blogger/YouTube scene as well as all of my favorite magazines - Cosmo, Allure, and InStyle to name a few.

The line was founded by Emmy Award winning Celebrity Makeup Artist Eugenia Weston.  She's worked with famous faces including Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, and Jessica Simpson.  Personally, when a line is designed by another Makeup Artist, I tend to trust their products a bit more.  You can tell that she has designed the makeup to be easy to use for both pro artists and the everyday woman.  Not only did Eugenia create Senna Cosmetics, but you might have also heard of another line she helped design - Trucco Cosmetics.  I own many items from Trucco in my kit and they're amazing.

The Envelope - Pastels $50 (a $405 value)
Senna has created an amazing palette which includes eyeshadows, powders, bronzers, blushes and more.  They are themed by color and available in Glamour, New Neutrals, Brights, and Deep Rich tones.  I received the Pastels envelope which is right in time for the Spring.  Unlike most wholesale eyeshadow palettes, these palettes are special to Senna.  They come in a really cool envelope type packaging.  The outside is cushioned in a padded packaging which is easy to clean.  The inside comes with a huge mirror and a nice protective plastic sheet to protect the makeup.

The eye shadows and powders are actually full sized which is a great value.  The palette retails for $50 but it's a value of $405!  Conveniently, the makeup pans are removable so you can replace them by calling their 800 number, or you can put them in other palettes.

At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to like this Envelope.  I'm not a huge fan of pastels, especially on darker skin tones.  However, I tested it out for a couple of weeks and completely changed my mind.  Pastels are gorgeous on all skin tones.  To make them a bit more wearable on me, I added a warmer color like a brown or coordinating shades in a darker tone.  Some of the matte colors come off a little chalky but for the most part they're really nice.

The Envelope contains 16 shadows.  These are my favorites:
-Meringue:  great highlight color, dupe for MAC shroom
-Aquamarine:  I've never owned a color like this, it's truly unique.  It's a pale aqua with gold reflects, gorgeous!
-Nightingale:  I didn't expect such a bright teal in this palette!  It's very pigmented and gorgeous for a pop of color in a neutral look.

Powders
The kit also comes with 6 blush/face colors in medium sized pans, and 2 larger face and highlight powders.  The blushes are extremely pigmented...better quality than in most stock blush palettes.  Not only are they great for the cheeks, but I also layer them on top of the shadows to make some really pretty combos.

Lipstick $18 in Nova
I noticed first off that this was a pretty pink color.  It has a glossy shine to it which I really like - let's me skip gloss!  The lipstick finish has a bit of a grainy texture to it but it does not take away from the application and look on the lips.

Lip Lacquer $19 in Zest and Nova
Nova is a super creamy pretty pink color.  It goes with nearly every look.  I recommend applying a lip conditioner first because this gloss is on the thick side.  A lip primer will help it apply more evenly.  Nova is a pretty shimmery pink.  It's on the sheer side and gives more of a juicy look. I recommend topping this on top of lipsticks and other glosses for a nice shine.

Brow Shaper Pencil in Mink $17
To be completely honest, I was most excited about Senna's brow products.  The company really made it's name by developing cutting edge tools that give you the perfect brow.  I tried out the Mink Brow Shaper Pencil and was really pleased.  First off, the color is a neutral brown with just a hint of warmness.  That way, it doesn't apply ashy but it's not too red.  It's just right!  The consistency is dry enough so that it applies smoothly and doesn't apply too much color.

Brow Fix in Golden Brown $18
In the past, I never really used brow gels because I didn't find them to do much for me.  However, after trying this one I discovered what I was missing.  This brow gel serves to lock in the color but it also has almost invisible fibers to plump up your brows.  This is perfect for all of those (including myself) that made the mistake of over-plucking when we were younger.

Here are a few looks I created using this palette.

You can check out these products at www.SennaCosmetics.com.  You'll really be amazed at all of the cool items on the website.  I highly recommend checking out the different envelopes because they're such a great value.  I also love their brow products and can't wait to try more.

Till next time, Ciao Bellas!
