I had the opportunity to test out a new product from the Anastasia Beverly Hills line. Many of you may be familiar with their super awesome brow products, but the line has recently branched out more into makeup like this new Illumin8 with Youthful Synergy Complex Eye Shadow Palette.
By the sound of the palette, you can tell that the shadows are formulated with anti-aging properties. When I received the product, I told the Anastasia folks that I didn't really have too many wrinkles for me to accurately test out the age defying properties. However, they wisely told me that this is great for those into prevention. I'm totally for that.

My First Impressions
When I opened my box, I was impressed with the packaging of the product. It's got a shiny silver case that is sleek and compact. The designs are embossed on and looks pretty fancy. Opening it up, it has a nice mirror and decent dual ended brush. There are 8 shades which are of decent size. The color combos are really nice actually...neutrals and some fun colors. Great for those who like more natural looks and some drama.
Testing It Out
As soon as I swatched this palette, I was impressed. The shadows swatch pigmented and smooth. When I applied them with a base, they were out of this world. Next, I decided to play with them on my eyes. Wow! The colors apply beautifully and apply blend so effortlessly. I first tried a neutral look with my regular skin toned eyeshadow base. I think the only thing missing from the palette is a lighter browbone shade. They have a matte neutral shade which makes a great blending or all over color...but it's a little dark for a highlight. I wore the look out and actually received compliments, good sign! Next I tried a dramatic look...the colors worked great as well! You can control the amount of pigment. To apply it lightly, go in with sheer layers or swipe the matte neutral shade to tone it down. To add drama, pack on the color and switch it up by using different bases underneath. All I can say is that I was truly impressed with this palette.
Check out swatches with and without a base.
